There are a few codling showing to the boat angler out in the bay at Dymchurch – Simon Newman aboard Sea Otter had fish to 7lb, There is a charity competition taking place at Deal in November on the pier. After dark from this venue, the whiting and dogfish keep the angler busy. The Cinque Ports anglers were on the large lake at Beachborough for the second round of the Mick’s Series and in the wet and windy conditions, the fish were found in the calm areas. Folkestone’s John Williams was top rod with 20lb 7oz and a close second was John Barnes (20lb 15oz), with Conrad Thrower third (14lb 15oz). Carp to 9lb were caught along with bream and roach.
