Holden leads club home in marathon

Rik Holden completed the multi-lap, multi-terrain Brett Owler Marathon on Sunday, finishing 10th overall in 3hr 38min 28sec as the lone entrant from the club.

Filiz Salih was first home for the club in the half-marathon in 1:57.59, finishing 66th overall, Becky Hodgson clocked a personal best 2:35.33.

In the 10k event, Scott Lynch finished fifth overall, despite taking a detour, in 48.08.

Gill Pragnell took the honour of being first lady home overall, completing the course in 48.35. Heather Johnson finished 36th in 59.01 and Shelly Blake crossed in 1:00.37 (42nd).

In the third round of Kent League Cross Country at Danson Park in Bexley, Lucy Johnstone finished first for the club in 26.10 (120th), Helen Weeden followed in 27.33 (131st), Emma Hargreaves finished in 28.36 (140th), while Sue Reader came home in 28.43 (142nd).

Ashford & District RR women’s team lie 16th out of 21 overall after three fixtures.

Dan Green was third overall in the Ashford Tri Club 666. He finished the course in King’s Wood, Challock, in a time of 49.25.

Clubmate Jon Wells followed in fourth place (49.44), while Paul Moses and Chris Boyce finished 11th and 12th in times of 53.00 and 53.52 respective­ly. Adrian Moody completed the tough course in 55.23, for 15th place overall.

Steve Hickman travelled to Hampshire for the Hayling Island 10 mile race and completed the course in 1:28.17.

On a chilly morning, 184 runners braved the near sub-zero conditions to take part in the Ashford parkrun on Saturday. Keith Haynes finishing first for the club in 10th position in a time of 20.34. Carl Ireland was 18th (21.10 PB), Ricky Hickman 19th (21.41) and Paul Moses 20th (21.43).

Other times: 25 Richard Baker (2.07), 26 James Chapman (22.08), 27 Terry Sellen (22.18), 31 Pat Butler (22.42), 40 Rod Kessack (23.36), 100 John Fidge (28.21), 106 Ann Fidge (28.53), Heather Johnston completed tail-runner duties, finishing in 57.15.
