ASHFORD PULL OFF CLEAN SWEEP OF VICTORIES
There was a clean sweep of wins by Ashford’s three senior sides against Sittingbourne on Saturday, with the 2nds and 3rds also chalking up impressive victories.
The 2nds’ 48-5 success consolidated their position at the top of the Late Red League and the 3rds’ 55-0 victory keeps them in contention to win Cinque 4 East.
On Sunday, Ashford Ladies drew 5-5 with Beccehamians in the Women’s National Challenge 1 SE East League.
Centre Ellie Drabble scored Ashford’s try. In a final flourish, No.8 Sarah Glasspool lost the ball when trying to crash over for the winning score.
Ashford under-12s joined another 40 teams at Eltham College, London, for the first round of the Kent Waterfall tournament.
The team secured a draw against Westcombe Park followed by back-to-back bonus point victories over Bromley and Beccehamians before narrowly losing against Tunbridge Wells.
Their results were sufficient to secure entry to the next round of the competition. Coach Scott Booth said: “The players gave everything for their shirt and left nothing in the tank. What a team and roll on the next round”
Ashford’s Lewis Remington represented Kent under-20s in a warm-up game against Middlesex at Charlton Park, contributing well to the home team’s win.
