Kennington’s Kent Youth League under15s returned from their trip to Whitstable with a 4-0 South Division win on Sunday. Kicking with a strong wind in the first half, Kennington dominated the game but were continually thwarted by either the woodwork or some outstanding saves. Noah Carney broke the deadlock five minutes before half-time to give Kennington the lead.
A change of formation at half-time to combat the windy conditions saw Kennington produce some of the best football they have played all season.
Tallin Cartwright finished well after 20 minutes of the second half and, as Whitstable tired, Kennington scored two further goals through Sid Hopkins and Carney. Amongst several excellent performances, Jamie Finlayson was outstanding in the centre of midfield. Ashford United under-15s faced challenging conditions against
Sevenoaks at Greatness Park in the Central Division.
Despite the wind, Sevenoaks managed to get a few shots away in the first half-hour, but these were dealt with by Ashford keeper Matt Lane.
Ashford scored twice through striker Jeremiah Bamgbose just before the break.
Sevenoaks pulled a goal back at the start of the second half, but Ashford upped the pressure scoring twice more, then increasing their lead to 5-1 with a penalty. A sixth goal came with two minutes left.
This Sunday Ashford take on Ebbsfleet in the Kent County Cup final.
