FATHER: ‘I’M
A controlling mother who drowned her miracle twins in a bath after her husband left her has been jailed for 10 years.
Samantha Ford, 38, became obsessed after losing her “perfect life” in Qatar and killed 23- month- olds Chloe and Jake on Boxing Day last year at their home in Castle Drive, Margate.
Ford - described as “materialistic” during the sentencing hearing - left a suicide note before attempting to kill herself by driving into a lorry hours later.
Her heartbroken husband, Steven Ford, who attended the Old Bailey hearing on Friday with his family, said her actions were the “ultimate punishment”.
The Charing resident has called on the Prime Minister to make sentences tougher.
He tweeted Boris Johnson after his estranged wife was sentenced.
He said: “Time for @BorisJohnson to step up and get a handle on tougher sentencing! 10 years for killing my son and daughter and probably only serve 5! Justice was not served today. I am devastated, disgusted and appalled.”
Ford admitted two counts of manslaughter by diminished responsibility, saying in a letter read to the court: “I’m in torment. The fact they are not alive because of me is the hardest part of all.”
She showed little emotion as she was sentenced before a packed public gallery by Judge Andrew Edis QC.
He said she would be transferred to a mental health ward and would serve the rest of her sentence in jail once she is discharged.
‘What we find is what she’s most regretful about is losing that perfect life’
