Nonington see off rivals

Nonington moved 15 points clear at the top of the table with victory over promotion rivals Harvel.

A game between the division’s top two sides didn’t disappoint, going down to the final over in a tense finish.

It was a good contest between bat and ball from the start, with Harvel opener Ben Paterson scoring 77 as wickets tumbled at the other end.

An unbeaten 48 from Elliot Campbelton helped the visitors to 225-6 but Nonington were right in it.

Their top order all got starts but didn’t go on until Jamie Burrett stuck around to make 62 not out.

His innings, coupled with 46 from George Finch, swung the game Nonington’s way but they were eight wickets down when the winning runs were hit.

Campb e l t o n (3-30) and Alexander Fisher (3-37) did their bit with the ball but Harvel were edged out with five balls to spare.

Bexleyheat­h, in third, kept up their pursuit of the top two with a five-wicket win at home to Tonbridge.

Michael Topham top-scored with 56 as Tonbridge batted first and made 195 all out, with Alex McCann (3-31) the pick of the Bexleyheat­h bowlers.

The home side then eased to 199-5 with Faisal Naved unbeaten on 59 after George Monk had earlier been dismissed for 42.

Bexleyheat­h are nine points behind Harvel and 24 ahead of fourth-placed Gravesend, who lost to Catford and Cyphers by eight wickets.

Tevin Sterling, Damion Grossett, Naveen Senerath and Jaskaran Bakshi each picked up two wickets as Gravesend were dismissed for 158.

Catford and Cyphers knocked off the runs in 25.5 overs with Pranay Singh 45 not out, while Ben King (41), Hoshang Noria (31) and Marlon Beache (30 not out) also chipped in.

Cowdrey thrashed Catford Wanderers by 193 runs in a onesided match.

Stuart Clarke hit four sixes and four fours on his way to 51 not out, with Jason Carver (53) also on form in a total of 280-5.

Wanderers then collapsed to 87 all out with Minhaj Jalill claiming 5-17 and Nicholas Farr taking 3-26.

It was another day to forget for relegated Gore Court, who lost at home to Leeds & Broomfield by 160 runs.

George Davis smashed 135 off 116 balls, hitting four sixes and seven fours as Leeds posted 245 all out.

Clarry McCague then took 2-1, with Richard Turner, Jonty Parsons and Anthony Prime also claiming two wickets each as sorry Court were skittled out for just 85.
