Folkestone put to the sword as Kanishka hits hundred

Gamindu Kanishka scored a century as Bromley Common beat Folkestone by 183 runs. Common won the toss and opted to bat with openers Leigh Walker (33) and Jay Mannall (24) putting on 65 for the first wicket.

Following the pair’s dismissal, Oliver Hickford (97) and Kanishka (107) put on 200 for the third wicket until the latter was finally caught by Sam Butler off Nick Ward.

Stuart Graham picked up figures of 5-52 as Common were bowled out for 332.

Butler opened with 45 in reply as Folkestone’s top scorer among eight single-digit scores. He was trapped lbw by Tom Scorgie, who finished with figures of 3-39.

James Kleinschmi­dt contribute­d 42 but was bowled by Conteh Nixon, whose 4-54 restricted Folkestone to 149 all out.

Bromley beat Linden Park by eight wickets after bowling their opponents out for 107. Park slipped to 25-5 after electing to bat following ducks for Max Campbell and Tom Corner.

Alec Davies then top scored with an unbeaten 54 while nine single-digit scores in total would see Park dismissed in 41.3 overs.

Amjad Khan finished with 4-42 alongside Pip France’s 3-14. Bromley were led by Sam Smith (32), Yasir Arafat (35 not out) and Tawanda Muyeye (29 not out) in reply as they reached 109-2 in 23.5 overs. Hayes recorded an eight-wicket victory over St Lawrence & Highland Court.

St Lawrence struggled to 114 all out in 31.5 overs having seen Matthew Hammond top score with an unbeaten 64 as one of just three batters to hit double figures.

Tom Davis claimed figures of 4-34 while David Giles took 3-39. Rory Low’s 42 not out and Tomas Gallagher’s unbeaten 30 sealed the win at 118-2 in just 28 overs.

Tenterden won by 23 runs at home to Holmesdale.

Shannon Fattore top scored for the hosts with 68 before he was trapped in front by Nathan Fawcitt, who took 4-18 from his five-over spell.

Luke Mangold added another 24, the only other batsman to reach double figures, as Tenterden were bowled out for 140, with Luke Blackaby picking up 3-23.

Tom Richards then tore through Holmesdale’s batting order with 6-28 from his 10 overs to confine them to 117 all out. Their top score had arrived at No.9 through Jamie Monkhouse’s 23, followed by Ben Fawcitt’s 20.

Broadstair­s moved even closer towards relegation as they lost by six wickets to secondbott­om Upchurch.

The bottom club managed just 138 all out after choosing to bat first, skipper and No.8 Andrew Marshall top scoring on 38. He eventually fell as one of Harry Mawson’s 3-23, however it was Adeel Hussain (5-34) who starred with the ball.

Suman Shrestha led the reply with an unbeaten 54 alongside Phillip Apps’ 32 as Upchurch reached a winning total of 139-4.
