■ Ashford under-16s defeated Snowdown & Aylesham 2-1 in the first round of the cup.

They took the lead in the 17th minute when a move started by Josh Batt was finished off by Ed Milloy. The visitors were well drilled and had chances but some great work by defender Nathan Barker and keeper Joe Valler kept them at bay.

However, Snowdown were level within two minutes of the start of the second half, but Jake Redmond restored Ashford’s lead with a volley.

In the last 13 minutes, Ashford were without

Batt and Ewan Monkley who both got injured, which left the home side with nine on the pitch and up against it.

In the last minute the visitors were through one on one but Valler made an excellent save.

■ Bromley Green Youth under-14 girls started their home campaign with a 4-0 win against Anchorian Sapphires.

They took the lead after just 38 seconds when Ella Roper rifled home. Chloe-Tia Lloyd to stabbed home the ball home on 12 minutes and soon after Jess Murphy made it 3-0.

A the other end Lily Sutton in goal was a match for anything that came her way.

Lloyd hit her second goal of the game in the second half to complete the scoring.

Bromley Green under-15 boys drew 2-2 with their Mersham counterparts. Mersham raced into a 2-0 lead but Green responded with an effort from long range by Ben Seager just before the break.

The same player scored again 10 minutes into the second half with another powerful shot from the edge of the area.

The player of the match accolade went to Elliott Grace for a superb secondhalf performance.

The under-14 boys defeated Hythe Town 6-0.The goals came from Joe Clark, Jack Matthews, Brentley Hone and Alex White. Ashford Ladies defied the odds as they battled through to the second qualifying round of the Women’s FA Cup with a 4-1 victory over Eastbourne Town.

The hosts put in a gutsy and brave performance to knock out a team that play a league above them.

Sarah Curley put away the first goal, chipping the visiting keeper from the edge of the penalty area after chasing a long ball from Kay Weeding.

It was soon 2-0 after good build-up play saw Curley pass to Sharné Douglas who scored her second of the season with a long-range strike. More good build-up play from the home side saw Abbey Davies beat the defence before setting up Jodie Harden to score her first goal for Ashford to make it 3-0.

Their three-goal advantage was preserved going into half-time thanks to a good save from Ashford keeper Kay Weeding.

Ashford added a fourth when Douglas played the ball up to Kaz Howard who found Davies on the left.

Davies beat two players before finding Curley, who made it 4-0 within 30 seconds of the restart.

The home side controlled the game from then on, with Eastbourne scoring a late consolation goal. ISTHMIAN LEAGUE
