The Ashford-based Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce has secured £100,000 of government funding to help the county’s firms get ‘Brexit ready’.

In recent weeks, the government has ramped up the volume of communication and support available to businesses to prepare for a withdrawal of the UK from the EU without a withdrawal agreement - a scenario looking increasingly likely under Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The Kent Invicta Chamber, which is in Sevington, has won £100,000 of the Brexit Readiness funding to support Kent businesses of all sizes in making sure they are ready on October 31 - the current exit date.

Now it will stage 22 ‘Brexit Ready Kent’ clinics across the county, open to both members and non-members, over the coming weeks.

The free events will provide firms with details on risk assessment and guidance and information to understand and prepare for the practical implications of our exit from the EU.

Tailored to particular sectors, special workshops will cover construction, digital, food and drink, manufacturing, tourism and retail, and professional.

Events take place in Ashford, Canterbury, Dartford, Maidstone, Rochester, Sandwich, Folkestone, Faversham, Dover, Sittingbourne, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks.

They began yesterday (Wednesday) and are running until Wednesday, October 30.
