Ashford Striders’ Couch to 5k (C25K) group completed their course by taking part in the town’s parkrun. Completing the 5k were Rebecca Slade (36min 24sec), Leanne Clark (36.25, PB), Katie Constantin­e (36.25), Simon Howard-Smith (37.19) and Michelle Rowles (37.26). Keeping them motivated around the two laps was Linda JeanDelpor­t (37.27). Meanwhile, there were personal bests for Rebecca Somerford (28.10), Peter Broom (29.46) and John Mitchell (30.43). Lee Standen took Division 2 leaders Ruckinge B hosted Postling B with an opportunit­y to improve their position at the top of the table in the Ashford & District League, but Postling emerged 6-4 winners.

Brian Cook, Roy Coles and Russell Swain showed their junior opponents (although all 40 plus themselves) how it’s done.

Cook defeated Mike Holiday

3-2 and then Coles repeated the scoreline against Jamie Horton. Chris Cloake halted the Postling momentum with a 3-0 win over part in the Hackney Marshes parkrun, finishing in 27.17. Martin Whittingha­m completed the Walsall Arboretum parkrun in 30.01 and Rachel Theobold (32.24) and Kevin York (32.24) were in Clacton for the seafront parkrun.

Gary McIntosh (pictured) ran the Zagreb Marathon in Croatia, finishing in 5hr 17min 20sec.

Oxford Half Marathon times: Shane Snowwolf (1:50.39), Julie Virani (2:08.46), Toyah Bicker (2:36.38) and Danielle Moss (3:08.49, PB).

Paul McDonnell achieved a PB of 1:22.35 in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London.

Other times: Linda-Jean Delport (1:37.17, PB), Justine and Jason Wearn (2:08.07) and Tricia Lovell finishing in (2:31.28).

Greg Johnson was in Tisbury, Wiltshire, on Sunday to compete his first ultra marathon. He completed the 50k ultra in 7:42.06. Swain. Horton then got on the scoreboard with a 3-1 win over Cook, and Mike Holiday took Ruckinge into the lead with a 3-0 win over Swain.

However, Coles defeated Cloake 3-0 and Horton then fell to an unexpected 3-0 defeat to Swain. Cloake levelled matters at 4-4 with a 3-1 win against Cook before Coles earned his hat-trick of wins by defeating Holiday. In the doubles Coles and Swain defeated Cloake and Holiday 3-2 in a topsy turvy match.

Challock won 8-2 against Sportsmen. Victories for Nigel Griffiths (2), Jamie McDonald (2) and Joseph Morgan put Challock 5-0 ahead, before Douglas Ho pulled one back for Sportsmen with a win over Morgan.

Julian Thorne defeated Challock’s McDonald to make it 5-2, but that was as good as it got for Sportsmen. Singles wins for Morgan and Griffiths and by the same players in the doubles sealed the emphatic victory for Challock.

Hamstreet beat Little Chart Posties 9-1, with trebles for Martin Yeandle and Ben Brown.
