Please use small cardboard boxes (like the ones that take reams of photocopier paper) to put your newspapers in as these are the most efficient way of collecting your papers, are just about the right weight for a Guide or Scout to lift and can go straight from collection vehicle to skip.

All proceeds go towards improving our Scouts and Guide facilities.

Kettles and Toasters: An appeal for you to remember the Ruckinge and Hamstreet Scouts & Guides when you throw away that old kettle or toaster. Why? Because the electric cable raises money from scrap metal. Margaret & George are grateful for electric cable and scrap copper, brass, aluminium etc (Not iron, steel or other ferrous metals, which raise very little). Collection is possible and any amount is welcomed, no matter how small. 01233 732684.

Saint Matthews: Sunday October 27, St Matthew’s Church, Warehorne, 6pm, there will be a Harvest Festival family service of thanksgiving for the fruits of the Earth and for the ministry of the Reverend Rod Whateley, as this will be his last service in the Saxon Shoreline Benefice. Brews News: The Brews progressed to the next round of the Ashford

Charity Trophy, with a 5-1 victory against Division 1 title hopefuls, Cheriton. The game was a tough encounter and the scoreline doesn’t reflect how well the visitors played. The Brews got off to the perfect start with Louis Plumridge scoring after just two minutes, but within five minutes the Folkestone side were back on level terms thanks to Jack Taylor. Ryan Vaughan then restored the Brews lead in the 23rd minute and Louis Plumridge added his second five minutes before the break. Matt Clarke then struck twice at the start and end of the second period to complete the nap hand. However, in between the Brews defence came under a lot of pressure and Ben Light was asked to make some smart saves to keep the visitors at bay.

The team have a week off this coming Sunday as they have no fixture.
