Cannons draw another blank

-

The first half was pretty even with chances for both sides.

The first fell to the visitors inside four minutes as Josh Clack cut in before forcing Hythe keeper Will Godmon into a good block.

Two minutes later, Hythe’s Ross Ibbertson fired over the bar after the ball had fallen favourably for him. As Hythe continued to threaten, Ollie Rowe played a long ball out from the back to Tom Walmsley whose shot was blocked by the Chichester defence from the edge of the area.

Carlton then set up Collin with a good through ball but the stand-in skipper could only shoot over. Kaleem Haitham looked the biggest threat for the visitors and he should have done better than shot over.

The visitors had a scare when Chichester keeper Steven Mowthorpe fumbled Carlton’s free-kick but the ball was deflected away for a corner and Carlton then saw his side-foot saved after he’d been played in by Kiernan HughesMason.

Haitham continued to look lively and just moments after he had fizzed a shot across the face of goal he had another effort which went over the bar.

The scorer was probably a fair reflection of the opening 45 minutes but Hythe started the second half in positive fashion with Carlton’s shot deflected into the arms of Mowthorpe.

The Chichester keeper followed up by denying Collin but as play swung to the other end Lloyd Rowlatt headed into Godmon’s arms before Clack blazed over.

Haitham produced another surging only to shoot straight at Godmon, whoin thefina minutes, demonstrated excellent handling to cling onto shots from Jamie Horncastle, Clack and Scott Jones. Hythe: Godmon, Divine, Simpson, Rogers, Coyle, Rowe,

Carlton (Flisher 72 mins), Ibbertson, Walmsley (Trespaderne 90 mins), Collin (Bassele 76 mins), Hughes-Mason; Subs (Not used): Booth, Nicholls. Attendance: 160
