‘Well done for standing up to them’

-

Kentish Express readers shared their anger on our Facebook page.

■ Julie Beale said: “What on earth is going to happen next? I don’t blame the bus drivers - why should they have to put up with this?

“Where are the police? My son drives buses in London and even he doesn’t have to put up with this.”

■ Jean Shrubb: “Well done Stagecoach to finally standing up to these kids, it’s just a shame a few spoil it for the rest of the folks.

“However, assaulting, robbing, firing catapults, stoning and other misdemeanours are nothing new.

“Drivers have had to deal with these issues on regular occasions for many years in the Ashford area as I have witnessed.”

■ Billie Robinson: “Put a cop in each bus at night for heaven’s sake for the bus drivers’ safety as well as the passengers.”

■ Jeanette Brown: “I agree with Stagecoach.

“If kids are running about all hours of the night with knives terrorising buses and its drivers I certainly wouldn’t risk my life going through it either.”

A police spokesman confirmed officers are investigating incidents in the area.

He said that on Tuesday, October 22, it was reported a group of people approached a bus at 8.15pm and kicked it as it came to the bus stop in Broadview Close.

Last Tuesday’s incident is also being investigated, the spokesman said.

He said: “We are making inquiries following a report of nuisance behaviour carried out by a teenage boy towards a bus driver at 8.50pm on November 5.

“The incident is reported to have taken place by the bus shelter in Finn Farm Road, where the boy spoke to the driver before walking away.

“No physical contact was made.”
