Appledore Good Neighbours: This service has been running in the village for many years. It provides non urgent transport for the housebound for trips to the GP, dentist or optician; owner and pet to the vet; to the village store for shopping and to visit relatives or close friends in local hospitals. Limited to a 12 mile radius of Appledore with the exception of transport to Canterbury Hospitals. At least 2 days notice is required and the service is only available weekdays except in exceptional circumstances. To use the service, phone 758478 and leave a message.
A very valuable service as there is very limited public transport through Appledore and not everyone has a car. Most volunteers are only needed once or twice a month and the majority of the trips are to Hamstreet or Tenterden. More volunteers are always needed. To volunteer, phone Trish, 758250.
