Duo get through final county trials

Ashford-based Charlie Ransley, of Phoenix Community Primary School, and Ibrahim Rabbaj, of Ashford Oaks Primary, who both play for the Ashford District under-11s, have made the Kent Schools FA County squad.

They were selected after impressing in the final stage of trials. Both boys will now go on to represent Kent in national and internatio­nal competitio­ns throughout the year.

Ashford District head coach Adam Ransley says he is extremely proud of the hard work both of them have put in to reach the highest level of football available for them. He also paid tribute to Charlie’s goalkeeper coach, Ashfordbas­ed- Matthew Burt, of MBGKA. some excellent football for 30 minutes in the first half but were hampered when they went down to 10 players following an injury and had no substitute­s available.

The under-14s won 4-0 against Hawkinge Town Hawks to stay top of the ADYL Pacific Division.

Their goals came from Jack Matthews, Alex White, Joseph Moloney and Joe Clark.

The previous week, the under14s defeated Charing 7-4 with goals from Alfie Gramson (2), Brentley Hone, Clark (3) and Matthews.

The under-14 girls continued their fine form, defeating

Petts Wood Swifts 6-2 in Division 2 of the Kent Girls & Ladies League.

Some great work on the left wing in the opening minutes enabled Anya Carroll to tuck away a shot at the near post. Five minutes later the away side were level but Green restored their lead through Ella Roper and soon after they stretched their advantage to 3-1, Carroll providing the cross for Chloe Lloyd to turn in.

Roper scored her second goal of the game in the first minute of the second half and two minutes later it was 4-1 when Lucy Griggs claimed her first ever goal for the side.

Five minutes later Shanie O’Leary was put through to also claim her first goal for the side to make it 6-1.

The previous week Bromley Green under-14 girls defeated Ex Blue 4-0.
