Iron Room A had the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Ruckinge A to just five points with two matches remaining when they took on third place Postling A in the Ashford & District League. On the night Postling arrived with seasoned regulars Nick Owen, Malcolm Skates, and Chris Hooper. Iron Room were reduced to just two players in Paul Waumsley and junior Lewis Marsh. It meant that automatically Iron Room gave a 3-0 lead to Postling but they still managed a 6-4 win.

This result left Iron Room eight points behind Ruckinge A both with two matches to play.

Marsh got off to a flying start, taking two quick legs against Owen. The Postling player fought back but Marsh won through in the fifth.

Skates started brightly against Waumsley with the opener, but the Iron Room player took the next three legs.

Hooper was unable to provide much resistance against Marsh, going down 3-0. Having given away three games Iron Room were back on level terms at 3-3. Owen then defeated Waumsley 3-0. Advantage Postling, but Marsh soon rectified that score by securing his hat-trick with a 3-0 win over Skates.

At 4-4 Waulmsey against Hoopeer was a cagey affair, as the Postling player took the first 11-8 before Waumsley replied with two wins. Hooper found a bit of breathing room taking the fourth 11-6. However, home advantage told for Iron Room as Waumsley edged home 11-9.

This meant the doubles were needed for Iron Room to win, or Postling to draw. It was a tight match with both sides taking their chances. Iron Room took the first and third, with Postling winning the second and fourth legs. It was the Iron Room duo who secured the win 14-12, and 6-4 overall.
