Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd will headline next summer’s Ramblin’ Man Fair.

The band, who brought the world Freebird and Sweet Home Alabama, will play the Maidstone festival’s main stage in Mote Park as part of their Farewell Tour and it will be their only date in the UK in 2020.

The band, who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 formed in 1964 and have sold more than 28 million albums worldwide including Pronounced Leh-Nerd SkinNerd (1974), Second Helping (1975) and Street Survivors (1977).

When they take to the Planet Rock Main Stage on Saturday, July 18, as part of the festival which runs from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19, it may be the last time for fans to see them play live in the UK.

Hollywood actor Billy Bob Thornton will headline the Outlaw Stage on the same day with his band Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters, bringing their 60s influenced rock ’n roll to the UK and Europe for the first time.

They have opened for the likes of ZZ Top and Kid Rock, and their current album, Speck, was made with legendary Beatles engineer and producer Geoff Emerick, who died shortly before it was formally released.

Already announced are Clutch and special guests Monster Truck, City of Thieves and A Thousand Horses, along with Whiskey Dick and Dead Man’s Whiskey.

Headlining the Prog in the Park Stage on the Saturday will be Big Big Train while Sunday will see Hawkwind top of the bill on the Grooverider Stage, along with The Quireboys, Vintage Caravan, The New Death Cult and Crown Lands.
