Challock C reached the quarter-finals of the Ashford & District League team handicap competition with victory over Postling

A.

As Challock C are in Division 3, they started every match with a healthy head start over their Division 1 opponents.

The encounter featured a rare head-to-head meeting between long term couple Roy Coles (Postling A) and Heather Robertson (Challock C).

With things going Challock’s way, the stage was left clear for the match of the night.

A healthy 13-5 start for Robertson seemed far too much for Coles, as he managed just 10 points to Robertson’s 12 in the first leg.

With pride at stake Coles tightened up his game in the second leg to overhaul Robertson for a 25-21 win but it wasn’t enough for the overall bragging rights, losing out 46-40 over the two legs.

After the final singles of the night, Challock were 66 points clear with a maximum of 50 points on offer in the doubles. Elsewhere, reigning champions Ruckinge A hosted Division 4 side Sportsmen C.

From the off the handicap clearly favoured the lower division side, but the final 69-point margin of victory was a little misleading, with 22 of those points amassed in the final doubles.

Ruckinge D of Division 2 were beaten by Division 4 Ashford TT Dby58points.

Sportsmen B conceded without playing against fellow Division 4 side Ashford TT C.

In a very good round for the Ashford club, their junior side Ashford TT E again made it into the next round, by 17 points over Division 3 side Ruckinge E.

The top division side, Ashford TT B were thoroughly trounced by Hamstreet B from Division 4.

At the opposite end of the scale Ashford TT A lost out by just nine points to Division 3 side Ruckinge G.

In the final clash promotion hopefuls from Division 2, Challock B came through a tight clash with Little Chart Tigers.
