Brabourne and Smeeth

Correspondent: Sue Wood, 14 Sandyhurst Lane, Westwell, Ashford Tel: 01233 623902 susanwood@uwclub.net Dog House Jug Band success: Smeeth’s own Bunberries played a storming evening of fast-paced country last Friday. An appreciative crowd cheered to Ben, Lenny and Jimmy’s wholehearted renditions of the cheerful side of ‘Mercan life, where nothing gets held back. The characteristic vocal harmonies had to keep pace with Ben’s energetic delivery of ‘more’na million words, folks’ and with Jimmy’s inspired fiddle-plucking and bowing. Lenny’s enormous black double-bass is not usually an instrument to grace the Grand Ol Opry stage, but as a rhythm machine it inspires both shock and awe. The live music bill at the Dog House over the coming few months holds several gems.
