Dobbin makes himself at home
Ashford & District Sunday League
Bromley Green Reserves cruised into the final of the Aford Awards Division 3 League Cup, thrashing promotion rivals Folkestone United Reserves 9-1.
The fixture was switched to United’s home ground in Elham following heavy rain last week that caused the waterlogging of Bromley Green’s pitch.
Jamie Dobbin scored four goals, Charlie Wallis weighed in with two more while there were further strikes from Jordan Osborne, Alfie Glendinning and Tyler Montgomery.
Ashley Sales scored United’s consolation goal.
In-form Liam Middleton was on the scoresheet as promotion-chasing Division 1 side Sellindge SSC caused a cup upset beating Premier Division Red Heathens 4-0 to progress to the quarter-finals of the Ashford Sunday Charity Trophy.
Additional strikes from Tony Dunham, Josh McCue and Lewis Freeland completed the scoring.
Division 1 top scorer Dan Arnold once again found the back of the net against his former club as Folkestone United recorded back-to-back victories over Hythe Royal British Legion, this time winning 4-1.
Arnold, who hit a hat-trick against his former team-mates the previous week, scored a single this time to take his goal tally for the season to 26. Robbie Westbrook, Jed Burns and Josh Baker also found the target.
Jason Brazier pulled a goal back for Hythe Royal British Legion.
A superb second half performance earned AFC Guildhall all three points as they beat bottom side Fox Sunday 7-2 to move back up to third in Division 2.
Steven Masters scored twice adding to strikes from Jon Brisley, Liam Hark, James Walton, Matt Biggs and Josh Woodward. Fox replied through Tom Wilmshurst and Craig Mannering – Wilmshurst netting his 100th goal for the club in his 103rd appearance.
Michael Norris scored four times to help South Willesborough sweep aside Park Farm Rangers winning 9-3 at the Homewood 3G pitch in Tenterden.
There was also a hat-trick from Lewis O’Leary and strikes by Tommy Wadman and Kurtis Hooper. Rangers’ goals came from Jake HaywardBrowne, Adam Draper-Lewis and Kieran Garvey.
Division 3 leaders Ashford United 3rds extended their advantage at the top to three points with a 6-1 win over Kingsnorth Pilgrims. Craig Hagley scored a brace, while Tom McDonald, Kris Melachrino, John Giles and Kieran Cox were also on target.
James Bowerbank netted his second goal of the season in reply.
Luke Goddard and Billy Lee both scored twice as Mersham Sports Reserves won 5-2 at Smeeth & Brabourne. The fixture was only Mersham’s second league match since early November because of cup games and the wet weather. Craig Lang added Mersham’s fifth, Smeeth scored through Ollie Heard and Will Stuttle.
