We do not need more housing around here
I write to express my dismay at the scoping document recently submitted by Quadrant Development to Ashford Borough Council, which I believe to be contrary to the agreed local plan.
The plan was subject to considerable local consultation and, after much discussion an agreement was reached on the size and scope of the future developments for this area of the Trinity Road Business Park, which included a further 375 houses plus further office accommodation. Considering that this plan has only been in place a very short while, it seems monstrous to even consider any changes to an agreed plan. Effectively Quadrant is looking to more than double the homes on this site and to include a ‘retirement village’ of 150 beds.
This proposal would place an intolerable strain on the local infrastructure which is already under considerable pressure. I also have concerns about the timing of any consultation. We are living though one of the most difficult times in living memory, with people of all ages still very wary about going out and certainly not confident to attend group consultation meetings.
The Quadrant scheme envisages a further access point to their possible new development from Sandyhurst Lane, this was clearly excluded from the original agreement, as this is a semi-rural lane and is already heavily congested. All access for the original development was to be from Trinity Road for the 375 houses agreed.
Further housing is not needed in this area as the local plan clearly demonstrates that there
