Ashford & District Road Running Club’s ladies claimed podium places in the Woodchurch 10 and five miler.

In the 10 mile race, Linda Jean Delport was second female overall with an impressive time of 1hrs 12.47 mins, second home for the club behind Paul Ridley (1:07.23), who finished 15th.

Ladies captain Rhian Shrimplin ran the five mile event and finished as second female and first senior with a time of 34.08.

Helen Weeden missed out on a personal best by 10 seconds with 1:31.41 but was rewarded in being 11th place and 1st V50. Lesley Clancy, with 36.40 was sixth lady and another A&D winner being 1st V55 lady. Club President, Ann Fidge, was 35th and 1st V65 lady.

Club men’s captain Adrian Beresford posted a two minute personal best over 10 miles in 1:13.15, finishing 24th and third V55.

Daniel Head’s time of 1:19.28 gave him 40th place and included his fastest ever 10k as part of the race.

Coming in with a time of 1:22.01 was Ed Roger, giving him 43rd place, closely followed by James Phillips with 1:23.00. Another great run from Hugh Scarlin was rewarded with 55th place in 1:26.26.

Emma Hannah ad a tremendous first run for A&D with a time of 1:27.29 and 10th female.

Keith Lynn moved away from his familiar mud and trails to test his legs on the roads and came in 60th place with 1:30.04. Trevor Sparkes had a great run with 1:37.19 and 68th place. Sarah Taylor was 36th lady with a time of 1:50.17.

Emma Jenkins has suffered with injuries through the course of the year. However, her hard work paid off with a personal best of 2:02.47.

The five mile race was very competitiv­e.

Lawrence Teeling was back after injury to lead the way in 11th place with 30.40. Dan Green confirmed his form and 30.56 was good for 12th place and 1st V50.

The strength in depth of the A&D senior runners was demonstrat­ed with Scott Lynch’s 17th place and 2nd V50 with 32.18 and Paul Moses time of 32.40 placing him 18th and 1st V55.

Continuing his return to form was Chris Boyce (28th, 35.10). In 29th and 4th V55 was Adrian Moody with 35.41.

Summer hill training paid off for Alison Waters with an incredible five minute improvemen­t for a time of 36.52, seventh lady and 2nd V45.

Cris Francis was 35th with 38:02 and Stu Nunn 39th in 39.23.

Simon Jackson celebrated a personal best and hitting the 1000 mile target for the year with 41.21, giving him 65th and 5th V55 place.

Julie Foster’s steady return to racing saw her finishing 71st lady with a time of 1:08.56.
