Village gets a new look in special week
Flowers and wooden hearts were left throughout Woodchurch in order to lift the spirits of those who saw them.
Residents, including schoolchildren, were invited to write a commitment or pledge on the hearts and hang on them on the church railings.
One read: “Say hello to someone on your walk today – it might make their day.”
The scheme was in support of ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ week and was organised by village group, Woodchurch in Bloom.
The group also left bright wooden sunflowers in various planters to provide ideas and quotes.
A spokesman said: “The resulting impact was fantastic, colourful and uplifting and certainly helped spread many smiles around the village.”

Hospital grounds have been given an early spring clean thanks to volunteers from the Rotary Club of Ashford.
Volunteers collected litter from around the William
Harvey supported by staff from 2gether Support Solutions, who aprovided masks, gloves and litter-picking equipment as well as refreshments to thank members for their hard work.
Mandy Carliell, head of patient and public involvement at East Kent Hospitals, said: “We would normally welcome volunteers in a range of roles across our hospitals but because of the coronavirus pandemic we have had to do things differently.
“So when the Rotary club said they wanted to help out by collecting litter, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.
“It meant our site was springcleaned so they look better for our staff and patients.”
Lester Kennedy, president of the Rotary Club of Ashford, said it had been a pleasure to spend a few hours clearing litter from the hospital site.
He added: “Our members were delighted to be able to do something to help our fantastic NHS who do so much for us.”
