Boredom is no excuse for behaving badly
All power to the council considering issuing a protection order on Conningbrook lakes. Sadly, there has been a rise in anti-social behaviour and vandalism, not just there but in many other parts of the town and surrounding areas.
It might be possible to argue that boredom brought about by the strictures imposed as a consequence of the pandemic has caused some to break out and behave badly but that is not an argument I would endorse.
However, while on the subject of vandalism, the council might well do a little soulsearching and consider the deleterious effect on the town of the numberless blocks of flats that have been thrown up all over the place often with inadequate parking provision for the numbers of cars likely to appear in the event that the flats might be sold or rented.
I have no idea of how many of the town‘s flats have been sold but, travelling round after dark, I’ve noted very few showing lighted windows to indicate their being inhabited.
There are a couple of drivers who are concerned about their inadequate manhood and compensate by overrevving and roaring at high speed
It’s amazing how much traffic has suddenly appeared on our roads. Amazing, too, how many drivers seem to have forgotten how to drive safely and within the designated speed limits. There are a couple of vehicles (one, a motorbike) whose drivers, I suspect, are concerned about their inadequate manhood and compensate by over-revving and roaring at high speed along Elwick and Godinton roads most evenings.
I have a swarm of bees in my bonnet about Napier Barracks and the people forced to live there. They are to some extent treated worse than criminals in that their risk of contracting Covid is higher than it would be in prison.
Yes, there are problems with how genuine would-be immigrants and asylum seekers can be helped to live productive lives here but denying them basic human rights is no way to go about it.
