Cyclist dies days after incident

A cyclist found badly injured after a crash has died in hospital.

Police are investigat­ing after the man, 31, was found hurt in Beaver Road last Wednesday.

Investigat­ors believe he suffered a head injury while riding an electric pedal bike along the carriagewa­y between 9.55pm and 10.05pm.

The victim, from Kilburn in north-west London, was taken to a London hospital where he died on Saturday – three days after the incident.

How he sustained the injury is not yet clear.

Investigat­ing officers are appealing for witnesses, and are interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen the man before the crash.

They are also looking to speak to anyone who saw a woman who was driving a small white car, which stopped at the scene.

Anyone with informatio­n is urged to call police on 101, quoting reference SL/47/21.

■ On Sunday, one person had to be treated following a flat fire in Beaver Road.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the blaze in Beaver Road just after 2.30am.

It took crews just over an hour to dampen the blaze, which saw one resident handed over to paramedics.

The victim needed treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation.

■ A driver is fighting for his life after a crash outside the Ashford Designer Outlet.

The man, in his 30s, was airlifted to a London hospital following the incident in the early hours of Saturday.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene on the A2042 Avenue Jacques Faucheux at about 1.10am.

The crash involved a silver Suzuki Alto and a black Mercedes E220D.

The Suzuki driver was airlifted to a London hospital with life-threatenin­g injuries.

He remains in a critical condition.

The vehicles were travelling in the same direction towards the roundabout junction with Norman Road prior to the crash.

The road was closed for several hours following the incident.

Officers from the serious collision investigat­ion unit would like to hear from anyone who was travelling in either direction on the road between 12.50am and 1.05am.
