Taylor’s ton secures win

-

Simon Taylor’s unbeaten 110 was the highlight of Ashford Town 1sts’ six-wicket win against Harvel.

Set 274 in their final Kent League Division 2 game of the summer, Taylor made the difference in a match that went down to the final over. Ashford end their campaign in sixth, but Nonington and Tenterden are both 10 points behind and play each other this weekend.

Tenterden will be keen to make amends for their 177run thrashing by Dartford. Tom Richards took 3-47 in Darts’ 258-5 but six ducks put paid to Tenterden’s hopes of getting anywhere near their target and they were all out for 81 after 27.2 overs. Ashford 2nds are 18 points behind second-placed High Halstow going into their final Division 4 match of the season against Nonington 2nds. They got the better of Harvel last weekend.

Philip Woodger took 3-30 in Harvel’s 237-7 before 50 from James Crannis, 44 by Stephen Wynn-Davies and Dean Clark’s 41 set up a twowicket win.

In the Kent Regional League, Mersham’s penultimate Division 1 East game of the season ended in an 18-run defeat to Saltwood, with Ashley Cook’s 83 in vain. Willesborough lost their final Division 2 East match of the campaign by eight wickets against St Margaret’s. Willesborough’s 2nds ended Division 4 East with the points after Exiles at Bishopsbourne conceded but Kennington can still win the title after a four-wicket win over Northdown (177 all out). Jon Ghaemian led the run chase with 84.

Mersham 2nds finished in third spot after a six-wicket win over Selsted.
