Kay’s tough training schedule worthwhile

Kay Devereaux’s months of training paid off at the Oxford Half-Marathon.

The Ashford Striders member completed her first halfmarath­on in 2hr31min38­sec and she was joined by several clubmates on the way.

Rob Wood broke the twohour mark in 1:57.29, Nicola Crawley timed 2:00.49, Justine Wearn ran 2:13.36 and Jason Wearn - after running the London Marathon only a fortnight ago - finished in 2:13.47.

Lisa Gribbin also put her post-London form to the test, crossing the line in 2:18.52, Lauren Aldred meanwhile set a new personal best of 1:49.20, as did Andy Found in 2:07.14 and Rebecca Somerford in 2:12.15.

Paul Dunning and Lisa Fulcher travelled to Portsmouth for the annual Great South Run.

Both achieved personal bests running the 10-mile route in 1:26.35 and 1:50.53 respective­ly. There was glory for Jason Caldwell at the Port Lympne Run Wild Challenge.

Running the 10k route throughout the grounds of Port Lympne Zoo, Caldwell finished in 43.47 to win the first V50 male trophy.

Fabio Baiardo also ran the

10k - timing 58.21 - and Gemma Wickes completed the 10k course in 1:18.43.

There were more personal bests at the Ashford parkrun. Frank Remigio with 22.35, Stephen Rumsey with 23.41 and Kirsty Theobald - who took more than one and a half minutes off her previous best - with a time of 30.02 all raised the bar.

Also running were Justin Burden (23.38), Mark Niles (24.57), Shane Snowwolf (25.39), Jamie Bartlett (28.44), Rachel Oliver (31.03), David Holland (32.15), Rachel Theobald (36.22) and Kevin York (36.23).

Nicola Crawley achieved a personal best at Folkestone with a time of 25.26 and Peter Broom ran a personal best of 30.36 at the Lincoln parkrun.

Justine Wearn and Jason Wearn travelled to the Nonsuch parkrun, achieving times of 29.27 and 29.28 respective­ly.

Lee Standen ran the Royal Tunbridge Wells race in

33.28, Martin Whittingha­m took on the coastal Pegwell Bay parkrun with a time of 29.27, Tamsin Ritchie ran the Sittingbou­rne parkrun in 26.13 and Vicky Bean finished the Blickling parkrun in a time of 26.15.
