Scarecrow trail greets runners at parkrun

Victoria Park looked a little different as there was a scarecrow trail set up around the park for the latest Ashford parkrun. Jason Wearn was the first Ashford Striders man to finish in a time of 21min52sec, followed by Mark Niles 22.18, and Stephen Rumsey with a new personal best of 23.37.

Flooding forced a lastminute change to the course for the Beachy Head marathon. Instead of the normal one-lap marathon, runners had to complete two laps of the halfmarathon route. Completing the marathon on Saturday for the Striders were Lauren Aldred (5:13.00), Tamsin Ritchie (6:02.27) and Lisa Fulcher (7:32.48).

But there were no changes to the route for the runners on Sunday at the Beachy Head 10k and, in fact, there were some excellent results on this hilly course. Justine Wearn clocked 1:07.25, followed in by Jason Wearn 1:07.26, Nicola Crawley 1:08.17, Vicky Stevenson

1:10.51 and Danielle Mackenzie 1:11.18.

There were lots of personal best times achieved at the Woodchurch 5 Mile and 10 Mile.

In the 10-mile race, Fabio

Baiardo finished in 1:23.35 and David Helme ran a personal best time of 1:37.14. There were personal bests for both Striders, Vicky Bean (41.08) and Nigel Hills (42.22), in the five-mile race.
