Trio team up in style

Ashford Striders won the women’s team prize at the Kent Spring Half-Marathon on Sunday.

Eleanor Weekes (1hr59min31­sec), Claire Green (2:15.35, course PB) and Jayne Hatton (2:19.20, course PB) took the honours in the race which was held on lanes outside Ashford and a short section on the Pilgrims Way.

Keith Haynes was first Strider back in a course PB of 1:32.40, followed Dan Green in 1:47.03 and Alice Foulger in a PB of 1:56.26.

Other times: Rob Harris 2:11.07, Stephen Cartwright 2:18.09, Dee Millen 2:35.01 (course PB).

Chloe Darling was among more than 30,000 runners at the Manchester Marathon, finishing in a course PB of 4:44.47.

Lorna Cheshire completed the Easter Duathlon at the Cyclopark in Gravesend in 1:48.52.

The event comprised a 5k run, 20k bike ride and a final 5k run. Two Ashford & District Road Running Club athletes completed the Paris Marathon.

Chris Francis finished in 3:30.22 while Alison Waters marked her return from injury with a PB of 3:32.27.

Becky Hodgson completed the Runbelieva­ble Challenge three 4.3-mile loops around Betteshang­er Country Park - in 3:46.11, while Darren Fagg set a brilliant PB of 11:04.00 at the South Downs Way 50-miler.

Elsewhere, Kelly Gammon was the first A&D finisher at the Manchester Marathon, crossing the line in a PB of 4:07.04.

Becky Christmas was next back in 4:47.42, while Lucy Johnstone battled on for a time of 5:02.58.

Eddie Crofton-Martin and Allen Edwards achieved commendabl­e times of 1:36.15 and 1:52.37 respective­ly at the Kent Spring Half-Marathon.
