Jo added: “Our music stands the test of time, so we’re excited to be singing our old hits to a Gravesend crowd.”

S Club Party take to the stage at the end of the day’s events at Gordon Promenade and the adjoining Fort Gardens, which runs from 11am and includes a traditional summer fair, food stalls and fairground.

Their set will follow MOBO awardwinning R’N’B and hip hop group Big Brovaz, whose hits include Favourite Things and Baby Boy, and Nadia from Booty Luv. Organised by Gravesham Borough Council, the summer festival will feature plenty of family fun through the day, starting at 11am at Gordon Promenade.

Bow tie-wearing local foursome Chaps will play urban, dance and pop covers with seamless transitions from one song to the next and a huge, high octane sound.

Now its fourth year in its present form, it will run from 11am to 7.30pm and there will be a traditional Summer Fayre in the Fort Gardens, food stalls and a fairground. This year there will also be a sports green.

Cllr David Turner from the council said: “It’s great that the Riverside Festival is still a key date in our diaries because it’s enjoyed by so many and has so much to offer. “We’ve got some great acts and a little something for everyone to enjoy. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us on the day.” Gravesend foursome, The Chaps, who sport bowties, flat caps and tweed will be playing to their home crowd.

Guitarist Josh Ferrara said: “We’ve gone from rock band, to acoustic band and now we’re a dance music covers band. It’s definitely evolved into something quite different to your average band. Joining Josh in the line-up is Matt Gibson on drums, Joe Harlin on Mandolin and Chris Hunt on bass.

They will be on the main stage around 1.45pm. For details visit gravesham.gov.uk/riversidefestival
