Swedish supergroup ABBA’S music comes to town – read our review of Mamma Mia!

It’s already had more than 60 million people singing along live, and for the last week it’s been the turn of Kent audiences to let rip. The story of family and friendship – told with the help of some of the most memorable pop songs ever from Abba – Mamma Mia! mania shows no signs of letting up.

The show is based on the movie starring Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan. It is the highest worldwide grossing live-action musical film of all time, and fans will be thrilled to know that a sequel is in the pipeline.

But the packed houses at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury suggest that musical fans can’t wait for that, and have been lapping up electrifying performances from the likes of Helen Hobson as Donna Sheridan, Lucy May Barker as Sophie Sheridan and Dartford-based Jon Boydon as one of the potential dads.

The all-singing, alldancing show is at the Marlowe Theatre until Saturday, July 29. There are a handful of tickets left, from £30.25. To book call 01227787787 or visit marlowetheatre.com.
