1 War For The Planet Of The Apes (12A)

Monkey business becomes deadly serious in the third chapter of the rebooted sci-fi franchise. It’s a glittering showcase for andy serkis’ motion-capture portrayal of the leader of the ape uprising, begging questions about where performanc­e ends and state-of-theart trickery begins.

3. Spider-man: Homecoming (12A)

Jon Watts’ slick reboot of the Marvel superhero finds peter parker (tom holland) concealing his crime-fighting alter ego from aunt May (Marisa tomei) with the help of mentor, tony stark (robert downey Jr). When adrian toomes (Michael Keaton) takes flight as winged menace Vulture, peter foolishly tries to tackle him alone.

4. Cars 3 (U)

the second sequel to the 2006 computeran­imated comedy Cars with championsh­ip racing car lightning Mcqueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) pondering retiring from the track, but fond memories of mentor doc hudson (paul newman) compelling him to hit the comeback trail. Cars 3 is the most poignant film in the series, striking a pleasing balance between heartfelt sentiment, belly laughs and dazzling artistry.

5. Baby Driver (15)

ansel Elgort plays speed demon, Baby, who has suffered tinnitus since the age of seven and to drown out the ringing, listens to music at a deafening volume, while being getaway driver for criminal doc (Kevin spacey).

6. The Beguiled (15)

Oscar-winning writerdire­ctor sofia Coppola’s fable of female empowermen­t, based on thomas p Cullinan’s novel is set against the backdrop of the american Civil War with stunning cinematogr­aphy courtesy of philippe le sourd and impeccable production design. an isolated household of women and girls led by nicole Kidman unwittingl­y invite a wolf in military clothing (Colin farrell) into their hen house.

7. Transforme­rs: The Last Knight (12A)

the battle between the last vestiges of mankind and the transforme­rs reaches a shattering conclusion in the fifth and final picture in the bombastic franchise, directed by Michael Bay. With Optimus prime gone, the key to saving humanity lies in the secrets of the past.

8. Jagga Jasoos

the Indian mystery musical adventure is written and directed by anurag Basu and features ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, and tells the story of a teenage detective in search of his missing father.

9. Wonder Woman (12A)

diana (Gal Gadot), princess of the amazons, lives on an all-female, protected island with her mother, Queen hippolyta, (Connie nielsen) and aunt, antiope (robin Wright). When a war pilot (Chris pine) breaks through the barrier, she decides to help him on his mission, and try to find ares, the war god, who banished her and her kind.

10. All Eyez On Me (15)

director Benny Boom throws the microphone solely to the late tupac shakur and fashions two decades of political activism, gang warfare and strife into an overlong montage of a life cut tragically short.
