A spectacular celebration of military history and vintage lifestyle invades the county this week. The War and Peace Revival, which has been running for more than 30 years, has moved back to its old haunt of the Hop Farm at Beltring, Paddock Wood, after being at Folkestone Racecourse in recent years.

It means the rumble of tanks and aircraft will resonate around the Weald again, after a break of five years.

Hundreds of vehicles from the First World War right up to recent conflicts come together from every corner of the globe for the revival. The Armourfast Model Marquee will have thousands of models, including aircraft, vehicles, military figures and wartime scenes.

Experts will be on hand to give modelling tips and demonstrations. A packed programme of living history displays will recreate scenes from the last 70 years of warfare, while hundreds of stalls will sell vintage and military items. Elsewhere, re-enactment scenes include an explosive battle, steam engines, tractors, a “home front” village, classic cars and motorcycles.

All the family should can get involved, with vintage fashion, dancing, children’s rides and a farm all creating a period atmosphere. Refreshments include a German Bier Keiller, food courts and vintage bars, back by entertainment during the day and night.
