Kentish Express Ashford & District - What's On
Revisiting a late 70s shocker
If Mother! Is proving contentious, it’s got nothing on this next film.
Almost 40 years after its release, I Spit On Your Grave is still one of the most controversial movies in history.
The revenge tale involving rape and murder was effectively banned in the UK until 2001, and even now the version you can (legally) get your hands on has been heavily edited.
And now it’s getting a sequel. This new film, called Deja Vu, isn’t a sequel to the 2010 remake (and its two subsequent sequels), rather it’s a direct follow-up to the 1978 original. The film will focus on the original characters and though there’s no release date, it would make sense for the film to be released next year in line with its anniversary.
No film studio worth a damn would pass up a natural moneymaking opportunity like that.
