Ratling Club make short work of securing win

Ratling Club secured a 2-0 victory over Golden Oldies in Division 1 of the Canterbury and District Ladies Bat and Trap.

So comfortabl­e in that they only had to use their first four batters to win both legs.

Kings Head A came back from a leg down to beat Haywain 2-1 despite Stella Jolliff and Vanessa Blackman taking three traps each.

Shirley Gardiner scored 21 runs in the second leg for Kings Head A and Ena Collier scored 23 in the third while team-mate Hannah Keem took three traps.

Kings Head B were not so lucky as they lost 2-0 away to Market Inn despite Tracy Lambkin scoring 22 runs in the second leg.

Deb Thompson scored 23 runs also in the second leg for the winners.

In Division 2, Castle B continued to dominate the top with a 2-0 win against Gentil Knyght.

It came down to Castle B’s last batter, Kelly Calvert to win the second leg, scoring 20 runs not out.

Castle A also held on to their second spot with a 2-0 win against Red Lion A.

Red Lion B managed a 2-0 win against the Artichoke with Sylvia Lamkin scoring 28 runs to help take the first leg.

This week also saw 22 pairs battling it out in the doubles competitio­n at the Red Lion, Dunkirk with eight pairs making it through to Finals Night.
