Let the Petticoats take you back to the Sixties
The greatest hits of the 1960s are promised as Dreamboats And Miniskirts comes to The Marlowe Theatre this month.
The show is the sequel to the successful Dreamboats And Petticoats, which premiered in 2009 and played to more than two million people in the UK.
Universal’s spin-off album series of seven double compilations and numerous one-off special releases has sold millions of copies.
The story tells of the Petticoats gang in 1963. They are growing up and facing new challenges. Bobby and Laura’s first single, Dreamboats And Petticoats, went to the top of the charts, but was it a one-hit wonder?
Norman and Sue have had a baby and settled down to nonmarital bliss. And Ray and Donna seem happy enough in their professional lives – or do they?
The Beatles have been born and the Merseyside sound is inspiring the next generation of music-makers. But will it be enough to prompt Bobby and Laura to have another shot at stardom, Norman to find that hit-parade voice he has always wanted, and Ray to realise his dream and manage a pop act?
Audiences can expect hits including everything from Hippy Hippy Shake and Handy Man to Pretty Woman and It’s In His Kiss.
Dreamboats And Miniskirts is by the same writing team, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, responsible for Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds Of A Feather and The New Statesman.
The show is on from Monday to Saturday, July 20-25, at 7.30pm, with 2.30pm matinees on the Thursday and Saturday.
Tickets, from £18 to £37.50, from the box office on 01227 787787 or at www.marlowetheatre.com.
