New car wrecked by hit-and-run

-

A driver from Chartham is appealing for information after her parked car was badly damaged by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday night.

Sally Dickinson’s new black Vauxhall Viva was left overnight in the parking area in the village’s Station Road.

When she returned in the morning, she was horrified to find that the offside rear wing of her car been smashed and a white Mitsubishi 4x4 parked behind her had suffered extensive damage to two doors and the wing.

She said: “It looked as if the car came round the bend by the bus shelter at a high speed and the driver lost control.

“There must have been a great deal of damage to the car because there was debris all over the road.”

Analysis suggests the car was a silver Fiat Punto, with a registration number of between 05 and 58.

Mrs Dickinson said: “Someone must have seen this car after it had been driven off. Maybe it has been captured on CCTV footage in Chartham before the accident or on the A28 afterwards.”

Mrs Dickinson can be contacted on 01227 904991 or 07850 262727.
