Here’s how to stay fit and healthy

-

Pupils from Canterbury Academy are the first in the county to become youth health champions.

The youngsters will be promoting healthy living to classmates, offering advice on how to get fit, improve eating habits and beat exam stress.

The 11 teenagers, aged from 14 to 18, completed the youth health champions programme on a four-day course run by national youth charity Streetgames.

Chloe Biggs, 15, was one of those qualifying.

She said: “The training taught me how to advise people on getting help for their problem. It means I get to help others and it has boosted my confidence too.”

Kent County Council’s early help practitioner, Kevin Mullins, is based at the Canterbury Academy and oversees the group.

He said: “There is no more effective way for a young person to learn about healthy lifestyles than from someone of their own age.”
