Apollo men on the up

Badminton

-

Apollo Badminton Club have seen a great turnaround in fortunes from the poor start to the year, recording nine wins from their past 12 matches. The men’s 1 team won both their matches to stay top of Division 2 with two games to play. Apollo won 6-3 against Rovers and 7-2 at Faversham, although the Faversham game was marred by an injury to Graeme Solly who was taken to hospital with a dislocated knee. The men’s 2 have also played two fixtures and continue to climb the table, sitting mid-table after beating Herne Bay Sports 6-3 and Faversham 5-4. The composite team continued their winning form with an 8-1 success against Betteshanger in Dover, a 5-4 triumph over The Kings in Canterbury and a 6-3 victory against Canterbury rivals Invicta Pilgrims. The mixed 1 have had the hardest time and are still without a win after losing 8-1 in Westgate and 7-2 at Rovers, although the scores were not a true reflexion of the matches. The 2nd mixed team have played three times, all at home, coming away 6-3 winners against the Racqeteers and Minster before facing an in-form Ajax from Sandwich who won 9-0, although six of the nine rubbers went to three games.
