Blean set the standard
Blean Primary School were the big winners as The Canterbury Sports Partnership held their annual Cross-country Championships at Chartham.
In a slight change to the format from previous years, eight categories were contested with the results of the top-three runners from each school combined to give a team score.
Blean swept the board in the girls’ races, winning in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. They also won the Year 4 boys’ race while the school were also second in the Year 3 and 5 boys’ races.
Host school, Chartham, won the Year 3 and 5 boys’ races while Sheldwich prevailed in the Year 6 boys.
Chartham were runners-up in the Year 3 and 5 girls’ and Year 4 and 6 boys’ races with Sheldwich second in the Year 6 girls’ race and Bridge second in the Year 4 girls.
Sheldwich picked up third places in the Year 3 and 5 boys’ races, Chartham did likewise in Year 4 and 6 girls while Bridge were third in the Year 5 girls’ race and St Stephens took third in the Year 3 girls and Year 4 boys and shared third with Blean in the Year 6 boys’ competition.
Barham, Sturry, Adisham, Hersden, St Peter’s, Petham and The Canterbury Primary School also took part.
