Faversham Town returned to the top four of Ryman League, Division 1 South for the first time in two months after a third win in a week.

Josh Stanford’s eighth-minute goal and a Renford Tenyue strike early in the second half ensured Town a 2-0 win at South Park on Wednesday night and the Lilywhites followed the victory with a 1-0 success at Walton & Hersham on Saturday. Tenyue fired the only goal after 13 minutes, turning in from close range after Dan Carrington had burst down the left, beat two defenders to a bouncing ball in the box and rounded the keeper before cutting back from the byline.

Tenyue saw another low shot saved and Liam King an effort deflected just wide, while Josh Stanford’s lob drifted just the post with the keeper wi d e of stranded.

After half-time, Tenyue saw another effort ruled out by the offside flag when he turned in Jamie Maxted’s shot across goal while the returning Dean Grant, brought in after Luke Harvey was injured on Wednesday, was freed by a long ball, only to see his low shot saved as Town wasted several chances to wrap up
