Bay beat rivals in final to lift cup

Herne Bay won the annual Jubilee Cup for the first time at Soham last weekend.
Bay fielded two under13s teams in the two-day tournament which saw pool qualifying matches decide play-off games the following day.
Bay 1 qualified comfortably for the semi-finals, winning all four of their games, against Letchworth, Maidstone, Cottenham and King’s Lynn, scoring 31 goals and conceding just twice.
On day two, Bay met Peterborough for a place in the final. After a frenetic start, Bay eventually established their superiority and qualified with a 7-1 victory.
The final saw Bay faceoff again against rivals Maidstone. Having taken a 3-1 half-time lead, Bay took control for the rest of the final and ran out 4-1 winners.
Bay 2 had a tougher qualifying campaign against some of the stronger teams in the competition, finishing fourth after a 14-1 victory over Ely 2.
They required two wins on day two to finish fifth overall and the young team were not to disappoint. First up, they defeated Letchworth 2-0 before a 3-2 victory over an older Ely 1 outfit.
