Loomer’s fifty sees Bourne to victory

Shaun Loomer hit an unbeaten 53 as Littlebour­ne successful­ly chased down a target of 305 to beat Sheldwich by three wickets with five balls to spare in Division 1 on Sunday. Sully Gould (85) and his brother, skipper Byron (57), who both hit big hundreds in the Regional League the previous day, gave their side a good start after James Creed (138) and Kit Sims (60) led the visitors to 304-8 in their 40 overs. Adam Cork hit 45 and took 3-15 as leaders Wingham (197-9) squeezed home by two runs at home to Harbledown (195). In Division 2, Karl Sutcliffe was in good form again as Tyler Hill (151-4) beat Woodchurch (147-8) by six wickets. He followed up his 77 in the defeat against Worth the previous week, by making 70 not out. Selling claimed the points against Leybourne who conceded. Lewis Caruna hit an unbeaten 26 out of Wingham 2nds’ total of 35 as his side lost by nine wickets at Borden. Five other batsman all made ducks, with the Sittingbou­rne hosts needing less than eight overs to get the runs. Doug Lewis made his second successive half-century with 57 as Boughton-under-blean (156-8) lost by 45 runs at Bobbing Court & Lower Halstow (201). Martyn Potter made 37 out of Littlebour­ne 2nds’ total of 88 – 22 of them extras – in a one-wicket defeat at High Halstow. David Taylor then took 3-5 in four overs before the home side’s last pair got them home. Chestfield topped 300 for the second week running in a 126run home win over Frittenden in Division 6. Openers Arron Bennett hit 76, and Zac Benfield 74, in a total of 317-7. The Maidstone villagers reached 191-5 in reply. Sturry (139-8) lost by 61 runs at Pett (200-8) in Division 6.
