Harrier wins Mexico trip

At the World Triathlon Series in Leeds, Yiannis Christodoulou from Canterbury Harriers and Adalta CC, competed in the National Aquathlon Championships. He achieved an excellent position of 23rd overall and third in his age category of 30-34 to earn a bronze medal and automatic qualification for the World Championships in Mexico in September. The achievement came shortly after his victory in the Ocean Tri Aquathlon in Maidstone. Yiannis said:“this is perfect preparation for the European Aquathlon Championships in France on June 25.” Fellow Harrier Wim Van Vuuren came eighth at the Samphire Hoe 5K Summer Series, achieving a PB. At the Charing 10K, Nicola Charlton was 2nd female in 42.07 for the English Schools Championships of 4mins 44.21secs.
The following day she went to the South East Regional Championships at Lea Valley and won the 3,000m, finishing 13 seconds ahead of the next under-15 girl in an astonishing 10mins 23secs – taking her third on the UK rankings.
Invicta’s Louise Evans, coached by Carlo Monticolombi, dominated the under-17 women’s 300m with a time of 40.88secs to claim the title in her first year in the age group.
Djamila Nkereuwem produced a fine time of 13.59secs in the under-15 girls 100m, 0.1secs faster than IEK’S Hanna Scrivens, and Nkereuwem was fourth in the 200m in 27.43, 1.4secs faster than Scrivens.
In the under-15 boys 100m Luke Williams ran 13.05 while he clocked a PB of 25.59 in the 200m.
There were PBS for Chris Noy and Jack Kemp in the under-17 boys 100m of 12.07 and 12.10 respectively while Mary Curry ran two bests in the under-15 girls 100m (14.60) and 200m (31.25).
