RUNNER’S TWO TITLES in AS Many days

Invicta East Kent athletes raised the bar at the Kent Schools Championsh­ips at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford on Saturday with several personal and season’s best performanc­es.

Alex Millard cemented her position as Kent’s No1 under-15 middle distance runner as she stormed to victory by a wide margin to become Kent Schools Champion at 1,500m and gain a qualifying time

Joseph Whitby showed racing maturity and is getting ever closer to the twominute marker in the under-17 800m after a PB of 2.02.59.

Under-17 Cole Gibbons knocked nearly 20 seconds off his 1,500m PB time and claimed a silver medal to boot in 4.16.98.

Joseph Griffiths beat his best ever 1,500m time in the same race, finishing fourth in 4.22.95.

Matthew Stonier, raced very strongly and set a new PB in the under-15 boys 800m (2.16.96) while at his first Kent Schools Championsh­ips Oscar Parrick claimed a bronze medal and a PB in the under-15 boys 800m in 2.11.93.

Louise Flynn is coming into some form after a 2.25 run in the under-15 girls 800m while Jessica Carley won the under-17 girls 1,500m steeplecha­se in a season’s best 5.52 and Emily Heasman recorded a new PB of 5.25.98 in the under-15 girls 1,500m.

Multi-eventers fared well doing individual events with Emily Higham claiming bronze medals in both the 80m hurdles (14.12) and shot putt (8.67m).

Holly Fielder showed her strength in the 300m for under-17 girls with a time of 43.67.
