The highlight of the calendar at Broome Park GC took place at the weekend with the club’s Trophy and Championship weekend.

More than 70 players competed for trophies and titles over two days in dull, humid and sometimes wet weather on a course that was in perfect condition.

It was anyone’s game after Saturday’s first round with all to play for on the Sunday.

After a net 75 on Saturday Sue Shepherd (h17) held her nerve and came in with an impressive net 74 on Sunday to achieve an aggregate of 149 over the two days.

Club captain Mark Broadhurst (h6) won both the Broome Park Trophy and The Club Championship John Downs Salver.

With a brilliant nett 69 on Saturday, followed by a nett 70 on the Sunday, an aggregate of 139 was enough to see off all the competition for the BP Trophy and the best gross scratch of 151 the John Downs Salver was also his.
