Big stand sets up victory

Steve Davies hit an unbeaten century as Littlebour­ne eased to a 120-run win over Deal Victoria & Barns Close 2nds in 2A East. Bourne clearly enjoyed the Gun Meadow track scoring 227-1 in 34 overs, with Davies hitting exactly 100 not out and Jamie Mears, an unbeaten 82 in an unbroken second-wicket stand of 175. The hosts, playing one short, were the restricted to 107- 8 in reply with skipper and opener Matt Hudson (34) the mainstay. Mike Pederson and Ben Newton took three wickets each as Dover Cosmos won by six wickets over Sturry in 1B East. Opening the bowling, Pederson took 3-13 in 10 overs and Newton 3-17 in 8.5 as Sturry were dismissed in 37.5 overs for 99. Tony Rogers weighed in with 2-25 from 10 overs and, chasing a revised target of 100 from 40 overs, third-placed Cosmos got home with an over to spare. Fifth-wicket pair Steve Horsler (30 not out) and Aaron Alvey (24 not out) saw the job through after Cosmos had lost early wickets to Frank Wrench (2-23 in 10 overs). East Langdon eased to a seven-wicket win at Street End after dismissing their hosts for 102 in 25.4 overs. Opener Sam Gransden (34) and skipper Tom Stewart (27) were the only home batsmen to make double figures with Darren Morgan taking 4-19, Garry Phipps 3-31 and Liam Sayer 2-24. Morgan (32) then helped give Langdon’s reply a decent start and Wayne Smith’s undefeated 41 saw them home in 24 overs. Opener Steve Laslett top scored with 33 as Ash 2nds made 98-5 from 30 overs against Willesboro­ugh in 2B East. Mike Smalley (3-22) then had Willesboro­ugh in early trouble before an unbroken fifth-wicket stand between Lewis Back (46 not out) and Callum Stuckey (28 not out) saw the Ashford side to their target in 22.1 overs. Littlebour­ne 3rds (156- 8) bowled out Nonington 3rds for 64 on their way to a 92-run victory in 1C East. Meanwhile, Sheldwich were frustrated by the rain against Hunton Wanderers in 1A Central. Chasing the Hunton total of 185-9 (Jon Taylor 3-27) they were were 150-3 off 18 overs when the rain intervened. Danny Ray was 63 not out.
