Harding stars as Invicta shine again

Invicta East Kent’s under-13 and under-15 athletes were back on the track again for the third round of the Kent Young Athletics League and again they didn’t disappoint. IEK sit in second place overall with both the under-15 boys finishing in second and the under-13 girls finishing first. Isabelle Harding powered to victory in the under-13 70m hurdles in a time of 12.1secs, a full second ahead of the runner-up. She later dominated the 150m in a new PB time of 21.7 and took second in the shot put with 6.61m. Jildou Chappell was second in the 1,200m in a time of 4.12.2 and later won the B string javelin with a throw of 11.97m. Henry-james Finch was fourth in the 100m with a time of 15.7 though went on to win the 200m in 31.2. Jack Herbert took the high jump with a leap of 1.15m to equal his PB and won the long jump with 3.69m and took second in the B javelin with a throw of 12.85m. Danny Wake-smith finished fourth in the B long jump with a leap of 2.92m on his first attempt at the event before taking third in the shot with a put of 4.47m. He then threw a great 15.75m to finish in third in the javelin. Luke Mellor finished fifth in the under-15 100m with a new PB of 13.8 and claimed second in the shot in another new PB of 8.60m. He won the A high jump with a clearance of 1.50m, equalling his PB, finishing just ahead of B string winner Inigo Warren (PB 1.45m) who also came second in the long jump with a PB jump of 4.85m and clocked a PB 14.4 in the hurdles. Sebastian Ngassa bagged himself a new PB, throwing 12.75m to finish in fifth place in the discus while Oscar Parrick and Charlie Brisley went head-to-head in the 1,500m with Brisley sprinting to the line to win in 4:25.6 with Parrick 14 seconds back in third. Issie Martin finished in fourth in the 1,500m with a time of 5.50.1 and also won the B discus with a PB of 10.33m. Djamilla Nkereuwem came second in the A string 100m with a strong 14.0 while Hannah Scrivens and Mary Curry finished first and second respective­ly in the B string in 13.8 and 15.0. Scrivens also won the B shot put with 5.61, while Nkereuwem jumped 1.35 in the high jump for second spot and Curry was seventh in the long jump (3.45m). Nkereuwem then sped to victory in the 300m in a PB 45.0 while Scrivens finished third in 46.7. Lauren Macey bagged second place in the 75m hurdles with a PB time of 13.0 and then threw 5.64 to finish fifth in the A shot put and jumped an equal PB of 1.30m on her way to runner-up in the B high jump. Issy Harding was part of the under-13 4x100m relay winning team while Curry, Scrivens and Nkereuwem helped win the U15 race.
