Quacking good time at duck launch

The countdown to Canterbury’s Rotary Duck Race has begun with an official launch in the city centre.

This year’s race takes place on Sunday, September 18, in Westgate Gardens, with thousands of plastic ducks expected on the Stour currents.

Rotarians have released details of when and where the ducks can be bought, with proceeds going to charity.

Members celebrated kickstarti­ng this year’s event with a barbecue at the Redhouse Nursing Home in London Road.

Prizes are £250 for first, £100 for second and £50 for third.

Ducks are on sale at Asda in Sturry Road on Saturday, August 6, outside M&S in St George’s Street on Saturday, August 27, and in the Whitefriar­s shopping centre on Saturday, September 3.
