Thomas Millard, of Canterbury Harriers, successfully defended his Harbour Wallbanger title on Saturday with a gun-to-tape victory in 28min21sec. This unusual race requires competitors to take their own route across the sand and rocks from Viking Bay, Broadstairs to Ramsgate Harbour, where they bang on the wall before returning. Millard was put under some pressure by M40 masters Chris Brenchley (Thanet Roadrunners) and Stephen Lamb (Faversham), who shared the same time (29.05) after a sprint finish while clubmate Alex Horsley was fourth in 29.36. Vicky Talbot-rosner (W55 Invicta East Kent) was second female in 35.39. At the Romney Marsh 10k, Canterbury Harriers’ Paul Knight finished fourth on his debut, in a time of 39minutes 3seconds. At the Podplus Ashford Summer 10 Series race three, Jacob Hussey was sixth in 39.00 while Nicola Charlton achieved a PB to be first female and eighth overall. At Invicta East Kent’s open evening 5k, Horsley claimed third in 18.01. The following gained PBS: James Scanlon in 18.20 (6th), Wim Van Vuuren 19.35 (9th) and Richard Hudson 24.10 (10th).
